अपनी नेतृत्व क्षमता से लोगों के दिलों में जगह बनाने वाले भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री भारत रत्न पंडित श्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी का जन्मदिवस हमारे लिये बहुत विशेष है। न केवल भारतीय राजनीति बल्कि आम जीवन में भी वे सबके चहेते थे। हिन्दू राष्ट्रवादी विचारधारा को लेकर उन्होंने भारतीय राजनीति को नया आयाम दिया। सभी प्यार से उन्हें अटल जी और पण्डित जी कहकर संबोधित करते थे। अपना पूरा जीवन भारत के उत्थान में लगा देने वाली ऐसी महान विभूति के विचारों और जीवनशैली से आज की पीढ़ी भी प्रभावित है।
The birthday of Bharat Ratna Pandit Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the former Prime Minister of India, who made a place in the hearts of people with his leadership capacity, is very special for us. He was everyone’s favorite not only in Indian politics but also in common life. He gave a new dimension to Indian politics regarding Hindu nationalist ideology. Everyone used to lovingly address him as Atal ji and Pandit ji. Today’s generation is also influenced by the thoughts and lifestyle of such a great personality who spent his whole life in the upliftment of India.
श्री वाजपेयी का जन्म 25 दिसंबर, 1924 को मध्य प्रदेश के ग्वालियर में एक मध्यम वर्गीय परिवार में हुआ था। जबकि इनका पैतृक गांव बटेश्वर (आगरा) था। इनके पिता श्री कृष्ण बिहारी वाजपेयी एक शिक्षक और कवि थे। इनकी माता का नाम कृष्णा देवी वाजपेयी था। इनके 3 भाई और 3 बहनें थीं। एक विनम्र स्कूल शिक्षक के परिवार में जन्में अटल जी को पारिवारिक जीवन में मिली शिक्षा और संस्कार उनके राजनीतिक कौशल और भारतीय लोकतंत्र में उन्हें सफल बनाती है। वाजपेयी जी एक ऐसे नेता हैं, जो विश्व के प्रति उदारवादी सोच और लोकतांत्रिक आदर्शों के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता के लिये पहचाने जाते हैं।
Shri Vajpayee was born on December 25, 1924, in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh in a middle-class family. While his native village was Bateshwar (Agra). His father Shri Krishna Bihari Vajpayee was a teacher and poet. His mother’s name was Krishna Devi Vajpayee. He had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Born in a humble school teacher’s family, Atal ji’s education and culture in family life made him successful in his political acumen and Indian democracy. Vajpayee ji is such a leader, who is recognized for his liberal thinking toward the world and commitment to democratic ideals
भारत के पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री अटल बिहारी वाजपेयी न सिर्फ एक अच्छे राजनेता बल्कि एक कुशल कवि, लेखक और बहुमुखी प्रतिभा संपन्न व्यक्ति भी थे। उनके भाषणों में एक जादू था जो लोगों को सहज आकर्षित करता था। लोग उन्हें बार-बार सुनना चाहते थे। विरोधी दल के नेता भी अटल जी के भाषणों और उनके विचारों के मुरीद थे। संसद में उनकी बहस विपक्षी दल भी शांत होकर सुनता था। अटल जी की कविताएं जीवन को नयी दिशा और ऊर्जा देने में प्रभावी है। उनकी कविताओं में देशप्रेम की भावना साफ दिखाई देती है
Former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee was not only a good politician but also an accomplished poet, writer, and versatile personality. There was magic in his speeches that easily attracted people. People wanted to hear him again and again. The leaders of the opposition parties were also admirers of Atal ji’s speeches and his thoughts. Even the opposition party used to listen to his debate in the Parliament quietly. Atal ji’s poems are effective in giving new direction and energy to life. The spirit of patriotism is clearly visible in his poems.
अपने जीवन काल में उन्होंने राजनैतिक जीवन से जुड़ी 14 और कविताओं की 5 से अधिक किताबें लिखीं। ऊर्जा से ओतप्रोत उनकी कई कविताएं आज भी जनता को रटी हुई हैं। अटल जी के लेख और कविताएं राष्ट्रधर्म, पाञ्चजन्य, नई कमल ज्योति, धर्मयुग, कादम्बिनी, नवनीत और कई प्रसिद्ध समाचार पत्रों में प्रकाशित हुए हैं। उनकी एक प्रसिद्ध कविता का अंश इसका एक बड़ा उदाहरण है।
In his lifetime, he wrote 14 books related to political life and more than 5 books of poems. Many of his poems filled with energy are still being recited by the public. Atal ji’s articles and poems have been published in Rashtradharma, Panchjanya, Nai Kamal Jyoti, Dharmayug, Kadambini, Navneet, and many other famous newspapers. An excerpt from one of his famous poems is a great example of this.
टूटे हुए सपनों की कौन सुने सिसकी,
अंतर को चीर व्यथा पलकों पर ठिठकी।
हार नहीं मानूंगा,
रार नहीं ठानुंगा,
काल के कपाल पर लिखता-मिटाता हूँ।
गीत नया गाता हूँ।
अटल जी ने अपना पूरा जीवन देश के लिए समर्पित कर दिया। वे जीवन भर अविवाहित ही रहे। खुद के स्वार्थ को छोड़कर वे सिर्फ देश का स्वार्थ देखने लगे। और यह विश्व विदित है कि भारतीय राजनीति के शिखर पर पंडित जी का नाम आज भी अटल है।
Atal ji dedicated his whole life to the country. He remained unmarried throughout his life. Leaving their own interest, they started looking only at the interest of the country. And it is world known that Pandit ji’s name at the pinnacle of Indian politics is unshakable even today.

अटल जी ने अपने पूरे जीवन में कई छोटी-बड़ी कविताएँ लिखीं, जिन्हें पढ़कर लोगों में वीरता के भाव स्वतः ही जागृत हो जाते हैं। वहीं कई कविताएं ऐसी हैं जो कमज़ोर वक्त के समय आपमें एक नयी ऊर्जा का संचार करती है।

बाधाएँ आती हैं आएँ, घिरें प्रलय की घोर घटाएँ,
पाँवों के नीचे अंगारे, सिर पर बरसें यदि ज्वालाएँ,
निज हाथों से हँसते-हँसते, आग लगा कर जलना होगा।
कदम मिलाकर चलना होगा।
उजियारे में, अंधकार में, कल कछार में, बीच धार में,
घोर घृणा में, पूत प्यार में, क्षणिक जीत में, दीर्घ हार में,
जीवन के शत-शत आकर्षक, अरमानों को दलना होगा।

अटल जी का जीवन परिचय / Life introduction of Atal ji
अटल जी का जीवन ही उनका परिचय है। वे भारत के लोकप्रिय व्यक्तित्वों में से एक हैं। उनके जीवन के कुछ मुख्य बिंदु ऐसे हैं, जिनसे हम सभी बहुत कुछ सीख सकते हैं।
Atal ji’s life itself is his introduction. He is one of the most popular personalities in India. There are some key points in his life from which we all can learn a lot.
पिता-पुत्र की एकसाथ शिक्षा / Father-son education together
जन्म से ही विलक्षण प्रतिभा के धनी और कुशाग्र बुद्धि के मालिक रहे अटल जी राजनीति विज्ञान और लॉ के छात्र थे। उनके विद्यार्थी जीवन में वे अपनी मित्र मंडली और अध्यापकों के बीच बेहद लोकप्रिय रहे। अटल जी के जीवन परिचय से सम्भवतः सभी परिचित हैं लेकिन उनके बारे में एक बात बहुत कम लोग जानते होंगे, वह यह कि अटल जी और उनके पिता जी ने कॉलेज की पढ़ाई साथ-साथ की। दरअसल जब अटल जी कानून की पढ़ाई करने कानपुर आना चाहते थे, तब तक उनके पिता जी सेवानिवृत्त हो चुके थे। अटल जी ने कानपुर आने की इच्छा व्यक्त की तब उनके पिता जी ने भी उन्हीं के साथ कानपुर के D.A.V. कॉलेज में दाखिला ले लिया। वे पढ़ाई पूरी होने तक छात्रावास में भी एक साथ ही रहे। पूरे कॉलेज और छात्रावास में वे आकर्षण का केंद्र थे।
- Atal ji, who was the owner of prodigious talent and sharp intellect since birth, was a student of Political Science and Law. In his student life, he was very popular among his friends and teachers. Everyone is probably familiar with Atal ji’s life introduction, but very few people would know one thing about him, Atal ji and his father studied college together. In fact, when Atal ji wanted to come to Kanpur to study law, by then his father had retired. Atal ji expressed his desire to come to Kanpur, then his father also accompanied him to Kanpur’s D.A.V. Took admission to college. They stayed together in the hostel till the completion of their studies. He was the center of attraction in the entire college and hostel.
आज़ादी की क्रांति का हिस्सा / Part of the freedom revolution
सन 1942 में आज़ादी की लड़ाई का माहौल बहुत भीषण रूप ले चुका था। हर तरफ आज़ादी की लहर चल रही थी, जिसका प्रभाव अटल जी पर भी था। जो भी आज़ादी के अभियान में शामिल होता, पुलिस उसे जेल में भर देती थी। अटल जी के भविष्य को देखते हुए उनके पिता जी ने उन्हें बटेश्वर भेज दिया। लेकिन भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन में उन्होंने ज़ोर-शोर से भाग लिया। यह गुलाम भारत का वही आखिरी अभियान था जिसकी जिसकी वजह से ब्रिटिश उपनिवेशवाद का अंत हुआ, इसलिए इस आंदोलन की एक अलग ही ताकत थी जिसने बच्चे बच्चे में भी आज़ादी की चाहत तेज़ कर फि थी। अटल जी भी आज़ादी की क्रांति में भाग लेने लगे और एक दिन पुलिस ने उन्हें पकड़ कर जेल में भेज दिया। तब वे नाबालिग थे, इसलिए ज़्यादा दिन जेल में नही रहे। परन्तु उनके मन में देश प्रेम की आग और अधिक धधक चुकी थी।
In the year 1942, the atmosphere of the freedom struggle had taken a very gruesome form. The wave of freedom was going everywhere, which had an impact on Atal ji as well. Whoever was involved in the freedom movement, the police used to put in jail. Seeing the future of Atal ji, his father sent him to Bateshwar. But he actively participated in the Quit India Movement. This was the last campaign of slave India which led to the end of British colonialism, so this movement had a different power that intensified the desire for freedom even in children. Atal ji also started participating in the freedom movement and one day the police caught him and sent him to jail. He was a minor then, so he did not stay in jail for long. But the fire of patriotism in his mind was burning even more.
साहित्य और पत्रकारिता की दुनिया का आरम्भ / Beginning of the world of literature and journalism
सन 1942 में लखनऊ के कालीचरण कॉलेज में अटल जी ने पहली बार अपनी स्वरचित कविता “हिन्दू तन-मन, हिन्दू जीवन, रग-रग हिन्दू मेरा परिचय” का वीर रस में पाठ किया, जिसे सुनकर उनके अध्यापक और श्रोता उनसे बहुत प्रभावित हुए। अटल जी की अद्भुत प्रतिभा और उमड़ते देशप्रेम को देखकर पण्डित दीनदयाल उपाध्याय जी उन्हें अपने साथ 1946 में लखनऊ ले आये। जहां उनकी काबिलियत के बल-बूते उन्हें हिंदी जगत की श्रेष्ठ राष्ट्रवादी पत्रिका ‘राष्ट्रधर्म’ का पहला संपादक नियुक्त किया गया। जहां अपने प्रभावी काम से उन्होंने कई नामचीन साहित्यकारों से पहचान बना ली। कई चुनौती और विरोध झेलकर वे साहित्य जगह का बड़ा नाम बन गए। इसके बाद 1948 में भारतीय राष्ट्रवादी विचारधारा वाला समाचार पत्र ‘पाञ्चजन्य’ भी प्रकाशित हुआ। जिसके संपादक भी अटल जी ही थे। आज़ादी के बाद कांग्रेस सरकार के आदेश पर राष्ट्रधर्म का कार्यालय सील करवा दिया गया, जिसके बाद अटल जी ने काशी की साप्ताहिक पत्रिका ‘चेतना’ का संपादन शुरू कर दिया। बाद में 1950 में लखनऊ में ‘दैनिक स्वदेश’ का संपादन शुरू किया, पर कुछ समय बाद आर्थिक संकट के चलते इसका संपादन भी उन्हें बन्द करना पड़ा। सन 1954 के बाद अटल जी दिल्ली चले आये, जहां ‘वीर अर्जुन’ समाचार पत्र का संपादक का काम उन्हें मिला, जिसके बाद अटल जी की संपादकीय की चर्चा पूरे दिल्ली में होने लगी। उनकी लेखन शैली का प्रभाव इतना प्रबल था कि उनके लेखनी को राजनेता भी पढ़ना पसन्द करते थे। धीरे-धीरे उनकी पहचान राष्ट्रीय स्तर तक बन गई। यहीं से उनके जीवन का एक नया अध्याय शुरू होने वाला था।
In the year 1942, at Kalicharan College, Lucknow, Atal ji wrote his own poem for the first time. Hindu body-mind, Hindu life, Hindu every vein, my introduction” recited in Veer Rasa, listening to which his teachers and listeners were greatly impressed by him. Seeing Atal ji’s amazing talent and rising patriotism, Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay ji brought him with him to Lucknow in 1946. Where on the strength of his ability, he was appointed the first editor of the Hindi world’s best nationalist magazine ‘Rashtradharma’. Where by his effective work, he made an identity with many renowned writers. Withstanding many challenges and protests, he became a big name in the literary world. After this, in 1948, the newspaper ‘Panchjanya’ with Indian nationalist ideology was also published. Whose editor was also Atal ji. After independence, on the orders of the Congress government, the office of a national religion was sealed, after which Atal ji started editing Kashi’s weekly magazine ‘Chetna’. Later in 1950, he began editing ‘Dainik Swadesh’ in Lucknow, but after some time he had to stop editing it due to a financial crisis. After 1954, Atal ji moved to Delhi, where he got the job of editor of the ‘Veer Arjun’ newspaper, after which Atal ji’s editorials started being discussed all over Delhi. The influence of his writing style was so strong that even politicians liked to read his writings. Gradually, his identity became up to the national level. From here a new chapter of his life was about to begin.
राजनीति का प्रारम्भ / Beginning of politics
वैसे तो अटल जी राजनीति में तभी रुचि दिखाने लगे थे, जब 1942 में उनके भाई “भारत छोड़ो आंदोलन” में सक्रिय होने की वजह से जेल गए थे। लेकिन पुख्ता रूप से वे 1951 में आर एस एस के सहयोग से बने संगठन भारतीय जनसंघ के संस्थापक सदस्यों में से एक थे। पण्डित श्यामा प्रसाद मुखर्जी ने उन्हें अपने निजी सचिव के रूप में रख लिया। अटल जी उनके भाषणों, सभाओं और दौरों का प्रबंध खुद करते थे। अटल जी भी सभाओं को अपने अनूठे ढंग से संबोधित करते थे, जिससे वे आम जनता के बीच भी लोकप्रिय होने लगे। लोग उन्हें सुनना पसंद करते थे। इन्हीं सब कारणों से अटल जी राजनीति में सक्रिय रहने लगे। भारतीय जन संघ से जुड़ने के बाद वे पत्रकारिता से अलग हो गए। हालांकि अपने लेखन और कविताओं को लेकर वे कभी नही थमें। उन्होंने राजनीति की शुरुआत 1955 से की जिसमें उन्होंने अपना पहला चुनाव लड़ा, पर विजयी नही हो पाए। लेकिन 1957 में उन्होंने बलरामपुर से सांसद पद के लिए चुनाव लड़ा और भारी मतों से जीते। इसके बाद वे 11 बार संसद सदस्य रहे जो कि अपने आप में एक कीर्तिमान है।
By the way, Atal ji started showing interest in politics only when his brother went to jail in 1942 for being active in the “Quit India Movement”. But concretely, he was one of the founding members of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, an organization formed in 1951 in collaboration with the RSS. Pandit Syama Prasad Mukherjee kept him as his personal secretary. Atal ji himself used to arrange for his speeches, meetings and tours. Atal ji also used to address the meetings in his own unique way, due to which he became popular among the general public as well. People loved listening to him. For all these reasons, Atal ji started being active in politics. After joining Bharatiya Jana Sangh, he separated from journalism. However, he never stopped with his writings and poems. He started politics from 1955 in when he contested his first election, but could not win. But in 1957 he contested for the post of MP from Balrampur and won by a huge margin. After this, he was a Member of Parliament 11 times, which is a record in itself.
1980 में भारतीय जन संघ से अलग होकर “भारतीय जनता पार्टी” की स्थापना हुई, जिसके पहले राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष अटल जी ही थे। शुरुआत के कई वर्ष इस पार्टी को आलोचनाओं का सामना करना पड़ा। 1998 में चुनाव जीतने के 13 महीनों बाद बहुमत न मिलने के कारण 1 वोट से भाजपा की सरकार गिर गई थी, जिसका चौतरफा मज़ाक बनाया गया था। तब अटल जी ने संसद में अपने ऊर्जा पूर्ण भाषण में कहा था कि आज हम 1 वोट से हार रहे हैं और हमारा मजाक बनाया जा रहा है, पर एक ऐसा समय आने वाला है जब हमारी सरकार भारत की पूर्ण बहुमत पाने वाली सबसे सफल पार्टी बनेगी। इसके बाद 1999 में ही हुए लोकसभा चुनाव में भाजपा फिर से सत्ता में आई और अटल जी ने ही प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में अपना यादगार कार्यकाल पूरा किया। सन 2005 में अटल जी ने अपने राजनैतिक करियर को पूरी तरह से विराम दे दिया।
In 1980, the “Bharatiya Janata Party” was established after separating from the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, whose first national president was Atal ji. For many years, in the beginning, this party had to face criticism. In 1998, 13 months after winning the elections, the BJP government fell by one vote due to lack of majority, which was made an all-around joke. Then Atal ji said in his energetic speech in the parliament that today we are losing by 1 vote and we are being made fun of, but a time is coming when our government will become the most successful party to get an absolute majority in India. . After this, the BJP again came to power in the Lok Sabha elections held in 1999 and Atalji completed his memorable tenure as the Prime Minister. In 2005, Atal ji completely stopped his political career.

भारत के प्रधानमंत्री के रूप में वे 3 बार पदासीन हुए। पहली बार 1996 में 11 वीं लोकसभा में वे लखनऊ से सांसद पद पाकर भारत के प्रधान मंत्री बने। लेकिन पर्याप्त साथ और गलत परिस्थितियों के कारण उन्होंने 12 दिन बाद स्वयं त्यागपत्र दे दिया।इसके बाद 12 वीं लोकसभा में 1998 में वे फिर से प्रधानमंत्री बने। पर 13 महीने बाद 1999 में समर्थन वापसी की वजह से गठबंधन से बनी उनकी सरकार टूट गई। इतना होने के बाद भी अटल जी अपने नाम की ही तरह अटल रहे और आखिरकार 13 अक्टूबर 1999 में 13 वीं लोकसभा चुनाव में उन्होंने लगातार दूसरी बार राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन की नई गठबंधन सरकार के प्रमुख के रूप में भारत के प्रधानमंत्री का पद ग्रहण किया। पंडित जवाहर लाल नेहरू के बाद वह पहले ऐसे प्रधानमंत्री हैं जो लगातार दो बार प्रधानमंत्री बने।
He served as the Prime Minister of India thrice. For the first time in 1996, in the 11th Lok Sabha, he became the Prime Minister of India after getting the post of MP from Lucknow. But due to insufficient support and wrong circumstances, he himself resigned after 12 days. After this, he again became the Prime Minister in 1998 in the 12th Lok Sabha. But after 13 months in 1999, his coalition government broke down due to the withdrawal of support. Despite all this, Atal ji remained adamant about his name, and finally the 13th Lok Sabha election on 13 October 1999, he assumed the office of the Prime Minister of India as the head of the new coalition government of the National Democratic Alliance for the second consecutive term. After Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, he is the first Prime Minister to become the Prime Minister for two consecutive terms.

अटल जी का व्यक्तित्व सर्वप्रिय था। अपने जीवन में निर्मल स्वभाव के कारण उन्हें हर क्षेत्र के लोग पसंद करते थे। वे भारतीय लोकतंत्र के एक ऐसे नेता के रूप में उभरे जिन्होंने विश्व के प्रति उदारवादी सोच और लोकतांत्रिक आदर्शों के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता को महत्व दिया। वे महिलाओं के सशक्तिकरण और सामाजिक समानता के समर्थक थे। पण्डित जी का व्यक्तित्व राष्ट्रप्रेम को समर्पित था। वे भारत को सभी राष्ट्रों के बीच एक दूरदर्शी, विकसित, मजबूत और समृद्ध राष्ट्र के रूप में आगे बढ़ते हुए देखना चाहते थे। वे जनता की बातों को ध्यान से सुनते थे और उनकी आकाँक्षाओं को पूरा करने का प्रयास करते थे। उनके कार्य राष्ट्र के प्रति उनके समर्पण को दिखाते हैं।

निजी जीवन में उन्हें किताबें पढ़ना, लिखना, भोजन पकाना और संगीत सुनना बहुत पसंद था। भोजन में उन्हें खिचड़ी बहुत पसंद थी। अपने पूरे जीवन में उन्होंने कई कवितायेँ भी लिखी जिसे समीक्षकों द्वारा सराहा गया। सादा जीवन जीने की चाह रखने वाले अटल जी संसद के अपने पहले भाषण में भारतीय वेशभूषा धोती, कुर्ता और कोटी पहनकर ही संसद भवन गये थे। हिंदी भाषा के प्रति उनके प्रेम से कोई अनजान नही है। अपना पहला भाषण उन्होंने शुद्ध हिंदी में ही दिया। शुरुआत में उनका बहुत विरोध किया गया पर अपनी अटल ज़िद के आगे किसी की न चली। और फिर वो समय भी आया जब उनके हिंदी भाषण को बिना शोर गुल के शांति के साथ विरोधी दल भी सुनने लगा।
In his personal life, he loved reading books, writing, cooking, and listening to music. He loved khichdi in food. Throughout his life, he also wrote many poems which were appreciated by critics. Atal ji, who wanted to live a simple life, went to the Parliament House in his first speech in the Parliament wearing the Indian costume Dhoti, Kurta, and Koti. No one is unaware of his love for the Hindi language. He gave his first speech in pure Hindi only. In the beginning, he was opposed a lot, but no one could stand before his unwavering stubbornness. And then the time also came when the opposition party also started listening to his Hindi speech peacefully without making any noise.
